CONSIDERED DESIGN
We are a seasonless childrenswear brand - which means we don’t follow the fashion
industry seasons. We don't believe baby and children's clothing needs ever changing, seasonal collections that can lead to fast fashion, overstock and waste. Our clothing is worn by little ones all over the world - so we provide our customers with all-season styles and produce in smaller quantities, only releasing new designs several times throughout the year.
Ellie and Lion is also gender neutral, which means outgrown pieces can be passed on to younger siblings and friends. Our minimalist designs feature a colour palette of a few colours, so we can re-use leftover fabric across different styles, further reducing waste.
We truly believe that the most responsible thing we can do when purchasing new clothing for our children, is buying less and choosing well.
GOTS ORGANIC COTTON
We are committed to only using cotton that has been certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard). GOTS is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. You can be assured that our clothing is not only kind to your child’s skin, but to our planet as well.
ETHICAL PRODUCTION
Having our production house in a neighbouring European country means we not only reduce our carbon footprint by eliminating air freight, but we have close contact with all suppliers and are able to oversee production to ensure the manufacturing process adheres to the highest standards. Our production houses meet the fair trade standards set by the European Union and their employees are ethically treated and are paid a living wage. The workplaces are often family run, small businesses just like ours.
BIODEGRADABLE PACKAGING
We eliminated all plastic from our supply chain in 2019. Since then, we have been using biodegradable packing and mailing bags from the production house to our customer's door. Your parcels won't be wrapped in tissue paper and ribbons - but a simple compostable bag that will disappear with your food waste. This gives us (and you!) a far clearer conscience in knowing we are not contributing to plastic waste.
WILDHOOD FOUNDATION
We are all more aware today of the impact humanity is having on nature, and how that impact affects forests, wildlife, oceans, and ultimately the climate. Giving something back to our planet by offsetting our carbon footprint has been part of Ellie and Lion's ethos from the very beginning. Since 2019 we have been supporting the non-profit organisation, Wildhood Foundation. Wildhood work to protect endangered species such as lions, elephants and rhinos from poaching, trafficking and captivity. Read more on Wildhood Foundation here.
